I had the chance to explore the best places in Tulum, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. From the beautiful white sand beaches, to the lush jungle and cenotes of the Riviera Maya, to the vibrant culture of the town, I was in awe of what this small but mighty town had to offer. Here I’ll tell you all about my experience exploring the best places in Tulum, and what I got up to during my visit.
Exploring the Beach Areas in Tulum
Tulum’s beaches are simply stunning. The soft, white sand, crystal clear waters, and tropical palm trees make the perfect backdrop for a beach holiday. There are several beaches in Tulum, and each has its own charm. The Beach of the Dead is one of the most famous beaches in Tulum, and is also the most accessible. It is here you can see the stunning Caribbean waters and stunning Caribbean sunsets. The waters here are a bit rougher than at other beaches in Tulum since it’s open to the ocean, but nothing too extreme. The Beach of the Dead is best suited to those who just want to relax and soak up the sun. A quieter, shadier beach called Playa del Amor is located about 20 minutes south of the Beach of the Dead. It is the perfect place for snorkeling, and the water is a little calmer than that of the Beach of the Dead.
Exploring the Ruins of Tulum
The ruins of Tulum are located on a small strip of land just south of the town. This Mayan walled city was built in the 12th century, and the ruins are still in exceptional condition. This is one of the best places in Tulum to get an idea of what life was like for the Mayans before the Spanish arrival. The best time to visit the ruins of Tulum is at sunrise. It’s also a bit quieter then, so you can get a more peaceful experience. I highly recommend visiting at sunrise. It’s an incredible and unique experience that I am so glad I did. Experiencing the Nightlife in Tulum
Tulum has a vibrant nightlife, and it’s one of the best places in Tulum to experience it. Bars, clubs, and other nightlife spots are all spread out across the town, which is a bit of a walk, but it really gives the town a great vibe. The best bars in Tulum are located along Avenida Tulum, and they are open until late. One of the most popular bars in Tulum is Hicabi, which is open until 2am. If you want to try authentic Mexican cocktails, then this is the bar for you. There are lots of other great bars to choose from in Tulum as well. One of the best places in Tulum to go caving is Sac Ak-Yik, which is located just outside Tulum. This is a stunning natural cave where you can go rappelling. The tour lasts about 4 hours. It is an easy tour, but make sure you bring appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. This is a must-do adventure in Tulum. The Tulum Zipline is another great adventure tour in Tulum. It is located in the jungle just north of Tulum. You can do the tour as a single person or as a couple, or as a small group. The tour lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours.
